Mission Statement
DRIFT is a diabetic educational website offering information for the benefit of insulin dependent diabetic patients and their carers and to provide information to the medical profession, doctors, general practitioners, diabetes specialist nurses, community health nurses, and social workers, with educational information and experiences of other diabetic patients in order to improve quality of life and offer possible solutions to minimise the long term complications of diabetes.
The project was initiated by Derek Beatty, himself an insulin dependent diabetic for 25 years, whose experiences led to a thorough investigation of the treatments available in the UK leading to opportunities to enhance the quality of lifestyle for diabetic patients and their carers.
